I’m Tam. I’m a normal dude from San Jose, California who has one simple goal. That someone learns something useful through my work and lives a better life because of it. But here’s why parents and teachers don’t want you to listen to me:
- I didn’t graduate from college
- I don’t drive a fancy car
- I’m not super famous
What I do have is an unquenched thirst for learning, a burning desire to teach people what I’ve learned, and a relentless will to help you succeed in life.
I was a regular kid in college that no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I was paying thousands of dollars to memorize stuff that didn’t interest me, and that feeling sucked.
It wasn’t until I got my first internship when I started to learn more about what I liked and disliked for my career. I then started to read amazing books such as The Education of Millionaires by Michael Ellsburg and Make Your Own Lunch by Ryan Porter to truly learn about business, life, and personal success. I started to go to different meetups, events, & conferences to engage with bright individuals. I even started to take some online courses on subjects that I was actually passionate about.
WOW! This was when I realized that I can learn anything I wanted to at the comfort of my own home. On my time. On my dollar (which doesn’t even compare to college tuition).
The big turning point wasn’t until I failed my first business after working on it for 9 months. During that experience, I learned more about sales, marketing, writing, communication, and networking than I ever did in my whole traditional education. Failure was amazingly rewarding.
When I finally understood I could create a better education that suited my learning styles and passions outside of the classroom, I knew I had to start this blog and I hope you benefit from it.
Please feel free to subscribe to my newsletter below and get exclusive content that you cannot find here on the blog, as well as free access to my eBook, How To Network, which was #1 Bestseller on Amazon in both Communications & Entrepreneurship!
And finally, please read this carefully: I don’t consider myself to be some kind of wizard that is “too good for college.”
I believe that because everyone has different passions, learning styles, and goals and because of that, college is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Personally, college wasn’t for me. I learned better by DOING. By failing. By working with motivated people. By doing things I was extremely passionate about. By going to conferences and meetups. By hustling. Not by having my head behind a textbook.
Am I encouraging you to drop out? No. I encourage you to try college out for yourself and let YOU be the judge. Self-directed education requires a lot of hard work, patience, and persistence. I speak from experience.
Regardless if you go to college, I do hope this website teaches you the essential skills you need to have a career you love, be a better version of yourself, and live a fulfilling life. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you on the blog sometime soon!
“Even though you may learn many wonderful things in college, your success and happiness in life will have little to do with what you study there or the letters after your name once you graduate. It has to do with your drive, your initative, your persistence, your ability to make a contribution to other people’s lives, your ability to come up with good ideas and pitch them to others effectively, your charisma, your ability to navigate gracefully through social and business networks, and a total, unwavering belief in your own eventual trimph, throughout all the ups and downs, no matter what the naysayers tell you.”
